BIOGRAPHY - ON THE BEACH AGAIN
PERMANENT VACATION 2

It's been a while since the first Permanent Vacation compilation in June 06. This release put a new label from Munich, Germany, on the map, and since then some pretty great things happended: Top reactions from the press, such as compilation of the month in Groove magazine, and great feedback from DJs and producers from around the world like Lindstrom, DFA, Prins Thomas, I:Cube, Gomma, Peter Kruder set the benchmark for the beginning.

Then in autumn 06 pv re-released Antena’s classic album „Camino Del Sol“, followed by the first remix 12“ including mixes by Todd Terje & Joakim, the latter simply being the biggest club tune in 2006, supported by all the big players - from Kompakt DJ Michael Mayer to BBC 1 master Pete Tong. Several remix 12“s for Antena and the remix album „Versions Spéciales - Camino Del Sol“ including further mixes by Nouvelle Vague, Chromatics, Escort a.o. followed this year.

Above all the Kathy Diamond album „Miss Diamond To You“ (incl. the hit single „All Woman“) produced by the mighty Maurice Fulton, which came out in spring 07. Already a modern day disco classic and one of the best records of the year for many people. Besides releasing quality stuff, the pv boys kept themselves busy DJing with heroes like Joakim, Tim Sweeney, Maurice Fulton,James Holden, D.I.R.T.Y Soundsystem,Todd Terje...

For their second compilation the pv head honchos Tom and Benji selected a mixture of future releases that will happen on pv in fall/winter 2007 / 2008 and some of their favorite tunes from the past years, which fit perfectly into the permanent vacation universe.

Here are Tom Bioly's and Benji Fröhlich's comments on the tracks:

Nick Nicely: First up is Nick Nicely with his forgotten balearic uber-jam “On The Beach” from his psychedelic hippy record “Psychotropia”. Well sounds the perfect match for our opener and we guess it is.

Michoacan: More balearic with Michoacan’s beautiful deep house tune called “Walk Away”. He is one of our favorite producers at the moment. Watch out for a Michoacan remix on pv later this year.

Tomboy: Then we have Tomboy, the drummer of Whomadewho with his ohrwurm “Flamingo”. It's the outstanding track of his debut album on the beloved Gomma label.

Junior Boys / Hot Chip Mix: Two of the hottest dance heavyweights on one track, nothing can go wrong with that.

Parker Lewis: He contributed a track on the first compilation and he was so kind to let us use one of his rare but great productions again. Lucky us to have him and his brillant track on board.

Findlay Brown / Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve Mix: This tune became almost an anthem to us and we play it out every time we are DJing. Simply the perfect combination between a melancholic dance tune and folk/country inspired popmusic. The remix comes from Beyond The Wizard Sleeve which are Erol Alkan and Richard Norris, who are responsible for some truly amazing remixes in 2007.

Home Video / Loving Hand Mix: An indie rock group from the states, but here it is all about the remix, which comes from one half of the DFA Tim Goldsworthy. He takes a sharp left turn into cosmic freak out psychodelic abstraction and it sounds exactly that great.

Only Fools And Horses / Holy Ghost! Mix: This is our new project, which we founded together with Paul Beller aka Ben Mono. Here it is featured in a Holy Ghost! remix, who surely will be the next big thing. Their tracks were widley hyped since Tim Sweeney played them in his radioshow, without even being released. Watch out for their debut single on DFA.

Lexx: Our man from Zurich! With only a couple of releases under Lexx and his more house oriented alias Kawabata, he became one of the key figures in the neo disco scene. We are very proud to release a full 12" with him this fall.

Stephen Malkmus / Hot Chip Mix: The ex-Pavement singer with a great song. And once again it is Hot Chip on the controls, transforming the original tune in their own special way into an spacey slightly melancholic disco groover.

Bostro Pesopeo: He is a hot raw new talent from Munich. Only 19 years old, he already has developed his unique way of things. This is his first release: slow techy style with a great melody somewhere between i:cube and trickski.

Woolfy vs. Projections: The two Harvey buddies from Los Angeles caused quite of a buzz with their releases so far. We present their new project called Woolfy vs. Projections and yes it is balearic but not so sweet that you will get diabetes. It's a bit darker and more twisted. The full 12" is out now on permanent vacation.

Glass Candy: Who doesn’t know them by now? There is a massive hype around them and the trouble men crew ( Chromatics, which also did an excellent remix for Antena on pv, Fahra, Johnny Jewel) in every relevant magazine and all around the web. Here they are featured with their brilliant track “Rolling Down The Hill“, which gives us goose bumps everytime we listen to it.
